Paris Saint-Germain Edges Olympique de Marseille in a Shootout to Secure French Super Cup in the Middle East.

Trophy celebration scene

PSG has now claimed the season-opening cup on 14 separate times.

The Parisian giants needed a stoppage-time leveler followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to get past Marseille in the Gulf and secure a fourth straight French Super Cup title.

The European champions appeared to be sailing towards a comfortable triumph in the showdown between the French league winners and the Coupe de France winners after the French winger opened the net in the opening stages.

Yet, the southern French side struck twice in the closing moments to take a shock lead. Initially, Mason Greenwood converted from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a remarkable turn of events, the Portuguese striker grabbed a vital leveler in the dying moments to force the match into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then stood as the key figure, stopping decisive attempts from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, Vitinha, the full-back, and the young talent all converted with composure for Paris Saint-Germain to complete a 4-1 shootout victory.

The record champions Paris Saint-Germain, who met last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Olympique de Marseille after achieving a league and cup double, have now won this trophy for the 12th time in the last thirteen years.
